Trip into town

We visited a store in town. This store just had special xmas tree decorations in it.  This store only stays open for a while, it isn't open all year. 

Boat Wharf

For guys group we went for a visit to the boat wharf at Sulpher Point.  There were a lot of boats, and some of them were very big. 

Trip to Ferguson Park in Matua

I enjoyed a trip out to Ferguson Park at Matua.  I had great fun with my work mates, the view was good too.

Visit to a men's clothing store

We went to Fraser Cove and had a look inside a men's surf clothing store called NORTHBEACH.  I enjoyed looking at everything in there.

RPL Transport Visit

In guys group we went to visit the RPL business.  They hire out trucks, diggers, bulldozers etc.  They were very busy that day and we were lucky enough to see everyone in action.

X Factor Finals

Yesterday we had our X Factor Finals, I was in the group The Strummers and played guitar to Joe Cockers Have a Little Faith

Croquet is fun!

I got to try a new sport today. It was called croquet.  I held a long handled hammer shaped thing called a mallet. . . This is used to hit the balls.

Sports outting

What a nice day it was yesterday to be out and about at yatton park for sports outting I got to watch everyone do a running race.

The Men's Shed

We had a great outing to visit the Mens Shed at the Historic Village.We saw lots of large wooden models,cars and aeroplanes.The planes will be used at Classic Flyers aerodrome for children to play in.

Firestation

We visited the Tauranga Firestation to deliver a gift.At Arohanui a pottery Bedford Fire truck was made by Matt for the "watch" that visited us and talked to us about their work.They were very pleased !!

Hobby Shop in Greerton

We went for a walk to Greerton to have a look at the hobby shop? There were trucks, cars, trains and planes!  What a great time I had!

Cricket Match

In sports we have been practicing our cricket skills.  We challenged our Te Puke centre to a friendly match....I had a great time supporting my team mates and being in the atmosphere of great sports man ship.

Out and about

We've been out and about, recently we went down to memorial park, we had a really nice walk in the sunshine.

Computers time!

In computers I enjoy listening to music and talking books through the headphones.  I have great fun trying to figure out where the noise is coming from!

Outing

We had our weekly outing recently, we went down to Fraser cove warehouse and had a great look at the toy aisle, it was great fun but I enjoyed the toys that made noise the most!!!!!!

Creative Time in Sensory

I really enjoy sensory.  I am able to get out of my chair and use my muscles and co ordination skills to pick up and throw the big Swiss ball around!  I also enjoy banging on items that will make a noise.

Out and about

Myself and Tame went for a nice walk, along the way we were lucky enough to go and see Hilda's garden, she had some beautiful plants that she allowed us to look at.

Ty the Police Dog

Paul the Police dog handler for Tauranga came in to visit us with Ty.  He was a huge dog that can help chase all the bad guys. he can run up to 50km per hour!

Working hard with my friends!

In gardening sessions we have been working hard on a project for the garden.  It is a sculpture made out of terracotta pots.  I am supporting my friend while he is sanding a pot.  We have also painted the pots different colours!

Windy outing

Last Monday we decided to go on an outing to ferguson park in mauta. Well the wind was crazy we almost got blowed away but it was great for all the kite suffers we saw out on the water having so much fun!

Awesome 80's disco at Arohanui!

We got invited to a fundraising event at our Wilrose centre.  They are fundraising for their up coming camp next year and thought that every one would enjoy having a boogie with music, themes and costumes from the 80's.  There was lots of Fluor!!!

Firemen at Arohanui!

We were very lucky to be able to have the Tauranga Firestation Staff come down to our centre and explain to us what to do in a fire.  We ran through what to say on the phone to the call centre, and also where Arohanui's special meeting place is for a fire.  The fireman even let us try on their uniform!

Sports Time!

I really enjoy sports session time.  It's a chance to get out of my chair and throw some balls around.  I love seeing them bounce in all different directions.  I even get to chase them all over the place and pick them up and throw them as far as I can.

Heros in our community...

In guys group we have been learning about transport and different vechiles.  We are also exploring what our emergency departments and workers do in NZ.  Our focus at the moment is the Firemen and the important role that they play in our society.

Amongst the Stars!

I am enjoying listening to a CD called 'The Planets' which is a classical piece. We have made some rockets to enjoy touching and viewing.  They also create shadows on the wall!  I also really enjoy the laser lights-as I get to follow the amazing patterns that they make.

Trip to Carmichael Reserve

We had a fantastic outing to Carmichael Reserve. There were really big dusk, geese, and Pukekos.  We fed a loaf of bread to them, they were so hungry!  We had such great weather for it.

Computers/iPad

I got creative in computers today on the iPad, I think I look pretty cool!!!!

Out with my Friends

 Went to the Rose Gardens. The weather was amazing, not a cloud in the sky!  We saw some strange looking plants!  There was something that looked like a very large cactus. The plants inside the hothouse had very bright colours for their flowers.

Tractors are Big Boys Toys...

I had a great time visiting the tractors at Barkes Corner.  I even managed to sit on a ride on lawn mower. It was fantastic being able to hold the steering wheel! We saw lots of different types of tractors, mowers and munchers.  The yard even had some vintage tractors.  Next time I go back, I must find out if they still work.

Outing to Historical Village

I did an outing to Historical Village with my friends.  We went into the gift shop, and into the rock shop. There is a special room where the rocks glow in the dark!  We also saw some fantastic art displays that were scattered through out the yard areas surrounding the buildings.

Orienteering at Memorial Park

In sports group we have been learning about orienteering and map reading.  We were able to find 'landmarks' and place them on our map, and then be able to orienteer our way between each land mark by reading our map and using group participation and input. We have had a great time doing this.

Pinch Pots

This week in pottery I started painting my pinch pot that I have made. I am painting the rim blue, not too sure what colour I'm going to paint the middle yet but I will blog it when it's all finished.

Practicing Oliver Twist at Drama

When we go to drama, Kim does acting exercises with us.  We get to hold an item and that means that this is our time to talk and express ourselves.  We then get into practicing our play.  We have some wonderful actors and actresses with us this semester.  I am so excited about performing!

Finger Painting

On the IPad today we used a finger painting application. When u touch a colour the music plays, so this made me laugh! Each colour plays a different song. Here is a pic of what I made while enjoying the music.

For our gardening session we went out to collect leaves of different textures for our wet day projects.  We were amazed by all the yellows, oranges, and greens!  Some trees even had NO leaves left on them!

Sensory Time!

In sensory I get to hang with famous people, I love it!!! I actually feel like I am up on stage with them.

Rocking it at Dance and Movement!

In dance and movement we improvise with instruments and use our own bodies and every day equipment to experiment with different noises.  This day I was learning the different sounds that a wooden spoon and table spoon has when hitting a pot.

A walk down to the nearby race course

I enjoyed going for a walk to the race course with my friends. we saw tractors mowing the lawns. We were lucky enough to be able to have a photo taken next to one.   

Look at Me!!!!

I can't believe it, I went so far up in the sky...I felt like I was flying! Once we reached the top we had a walk to the look out point and we could see beautiful views as far as the eye could see.  I'm so glad that I got to share this incredible experience with my friends.

Getting Ready For Camping!

In guys group we have been practicing how to put up a tent. Today we went out to Welcome Bay Camp Grounds to research the place to see if this would be suitable for us to do camping here. Looks good guys!

Movement and dance time!

I loved looking up and seeing all the beautiful colours of our ribbons that we made in music and movement.

Aboriginal Boomerangs

I finished my boomerang yesterday. I used traditional Aboriginal colours and designs of the Aboriginal art.

Mr Scare Crow, you don't scare me at all!!!

For wet weather activities for Community Gardens Visits, we are making a scare crow for the Wilrose Centre. This scare crow doesn't scare me at all!!! I do hope it scares away all the birds though...

Arohanui X Factor!!!

I am practicing hard in my music sessions for the up and coming X factor at the end of the year. SSSSSSSSHHHHH our act is going to be a surprise!!!

Aboriginal Art

During my culture sessions at work we have been learning about Aboriginal art and customs. This week we have been learning and making boomerangs.

Outing to mitre 10

This week we have been out to mitre 10 mega, Tame and i checked out the fishing rods!!!! They were really big. I've had another busy week at Arohanui this week.

The Lakes Walk

I have enjoyed many walks with my friends. I enjoy being outside in the fresh air and feeling the sun on my face.
